The Nigerian Postal Service(NIPOST) has in Benin City, Edo State, trained new courier and logistics service providers, while inducting
“The True God Ventures Isaiah 43:1-11” as a licensed operator in the industry.

Speaking at a lecture with the topic ,” Ethical Consideration in Courier and Logistic Industry in Nigeria” delivered as part of the induction ceremony, The Director Nigerian Postal Institute(NPI), Egor, Edo State, Dr Julius Bolade Anjorin said the Courier Service and Logistics Licence Regulation Department was formed in 2001 to serve as licensing and regulatory body to the courier industry operators in Nigeria, and advised players in the industry to relate with NIPOST which he said is there to serve them. He said NIPOST operation in the industry is backed with the NIPOST Act 2004, which gives the organization the right to licence, regulate and monitor the courier industry in Nigeria.

He urged operators to take advantage of technology to improve on their service delivery, tracking and for proper record keeping as the industry is a sensitive one.
“I want you to take advantage of technology to improve on your service delivery, your tracking and book keeping, so that you can know what was delivered, when it was delivered and not when trouble comes, you will now know that you can keep your book in order. You have to capture your parcel electronically and give the regulatory agency free access to information. If you hide any information, you will find out that there are information that will not be available to you because you are hiding information.”

He advised the operators against carrying any prohibited items like illicit drugs, currency notes, gold, diamonds, international passports, live animals and covering-up non licensed persons as such could lead to deregistration or suspension of the operator’s license.

“One thing you must avoid is carrying any prohibited items like illicit drugs, currency notes, gold, diamonds, international passports and live animals. Don’t try it because you will be caught. I also advise you against covering-up non licensed persons as these could lead to deregistration or suspension of your operational license. Apart from NIPOST there are other agencies you are likely going to encounter in the field, like Police, NDLEA, NAFDAC, Customs etc, these agencies are working for good of the society,so avoid anything prohibited.”

Earlier, speaking, the General Manager Courier and Regulatory Department, Mr Dotun Sholade, said courier service is a business of speed and timing, and advised those involved not to overlook it’s time consciousness,he said that he is expecting that next period of induction the number of persons would have increased.

Responding, one of the inducted courier service provider, Mr Sunny Amas, who operates The True God Venture Isaiah 43: 1-11, on behalf of other operators, thanked NIPOST for the opportunity of being trained by the agency. He appealed to others to comply with the agency’s regulatory requirements.
