“While security is everyone’s business and as we are all stakeholders in goverment, gone are the days that everything is left for the government to handle.

“The private sector drives the Economy of every growing nation. It is essential that we join hands in support of the government in strengthening security in our locations of interests. I’m speaking directly on the recent bank robbery attacks in Uromi.

“I think banks and businesses in general should collaborate with government, police and community members/vigilante to boost security in their areas of operation.

“This is because banks and businesses are the most target and as a result suffer the worst hit. They definitely need the imput of community members for intelligence gathering and assist in vigilante/neighbourhood watch operations.

“It is imperative to have enough manpower and combat equipment to provide for adequate resistance in situations of attack in these areas whether rural or urban.”

Going further, the Chairman, DAF Homes and Estates Ltd, said: “all systems and equipments must be in place to mitigate these terror attacks and robbery, such that every stage both planning and execution becomes difficult for these criminal elements/intruders.

“People form associations to secure where they live, they should be able to do same with where they earn a living and do business transaction.

“Banks, businesses, police and community members should collaborate in putting resources, ideas, manpower and equipment together.

“It is totally wrong to have just one or two armed policemen in a bank where several financial transactions take place and hundreds of millions are stored. It makes no sense at all.

“There must be a constant display of show of force which in the end serves as a deterrent factor to these criminal elements. We must all be guided and prepared for uneventualities.

“Systems must be in place for adequate resistance to all levels of robbery incidents especially in locations that are prone to attack.”
