Comrade Sunny Osayande, CEO Big Joe Ventures Nigeria Ltd, the operators of Big Joe Motors’, has stated that it is imperative for people in the business world to contribute their quota to the Edo State government’s ideal of engaging youths positively in sporting activities so as to curb some indecent activities that some of them may want to be involved in.

He made the charge at Wesley Hotel, Benin City, on the occasion of empowering over twenty football clubs in the state by donating customised footballs to them.

“I see it as imperative to contribute to sports development in Edo State. As a businessman I have to join others to compliment the efforts of the state government.

“Certain individuals have come out to make the state proud. We want to see a situation where more than 30 players from Edo State play quality football,” he stated.

In his own remarks, Barrister Godwin Dudu-Orumen, the chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, disclosed that what Comrade Osayande is doing is in line with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s ideal of repositioning sports in the state.

He disclosed that has started compiling the names of people “who in the past have done something for the state to come and assist us.”

Some of those who witnessed the epoch event were Barrister Damian Lawani, the immediate past Commissioner for Youths in Edo State; Sabina Chikere, erstwhile Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Edo State Deputy Governor; State Secretary of YSFON, Comrade Moses Agbonlahor; Chairman of Edo State Football Association(EFA), Roland Abu and the EFA Secretary, Emmanuel Ajibola; Faith Irabor, a reknown football referee; Wesley Asoro, CEO of Wesley Hotel and a horde of football coaches, players and administrators.
