The stage is set for the return of the Creative Industry Group (CIG) flagship show tagged Industry Night.
Thus come Saturday, March 28th, all roads will be leading to Real Duke-Duchess Hotel and Suites situated in Abule-Egba, a Lagos suburb, where legendary Bashiru Adisa Olamilokun (aka Babagboin) would be honoured for his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the creative industry.
In a statement released by the organizers, CIG emphasized its commitment to recognizing and celebrating icons while they are still alive, highlighting Olamilokun as a true embodiment of excellence and legacy within the industry.
The show, which commences from 6pm, will have industry stakeholders, creatives, and fans gathered for an evening of celebration, reflection, and networking, as CIG continues its mission of “bridging the gap” within the creative space.
Bashiru Adisa, popularly known as Bàbá Gboin, is a legendary Lagos-based electronic media practitioner, humorist, and polyglot. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Yoruba-language broadcasting and a cornerstone of the Lagos radio scene for over four decades.
He is perhaps best known for his long-standing partnership with Ambrose Somide. Together, they revolutionized breakfast radio in Nigeria with their hit show, “Minijojo,” which aired on RayPower FM and AIT (Africa Independent Television).
Their banter—often a mix of Yoruba, English, and Pidgin—became a staple for Lagosians commuting in the mornings. They were among the first to successfully blend “high-end” broadcasting with grassroots appeal, making radio both informative and hilariously entertaining.
