Ewu Kingdom witnessed a historic and orderly mass protest today as residents, both old and young, Muslims and Christians, led by key traditional stakeholders, gathered in unity to reaffirm their unwavering support for His Royal Highness, Rasaki Ojiefoh III, as the Onojie of Ewu.

The peaceful demonstration drew a cross-section of the community—elders, women, youths, and respected figures—who marched with placards and voiced strong but calm demands for respect for the throne and adherence to tradition. The atmosphere reflected discipline, cultural pride, and a collective resolve to defend the legitimacy of their monarch.

Speaking on behalf of the kingmakers, one of the revered custodians of Ewu tradition addressed the gathering, delivering a firm and symbolic message saying,

“We, the kingmakers of Ewu, stand by the decision that produced HRH Rasaki Ojiefoh III as the Onojie of Ewu. This decision was not made in haste, nor under influence—it was guided strictly by our customs, our history, and our sacred responsibility. Kings are born by custom, not made by courts. We call on all concerned to respect the will of the tradition and the voice of the people.”

He further emphasized that the kingmakers remain united and resolute.

“Ewu is not in confusion. The throne is not vacant. Our king is known, our process is complete, and our position is clear. We will continue to uphold peace, but we will not compromise our tradition.”

Community leaders also used the occasion to urge continued calm, stressing that their actions would remain within the bounds of law and peace, while firmly asserting their rights.

Today’s demonstration marks a significant moment in the ongoing chieftaincy dispute, sending a clear and coordinated message: the people of Ewu, guided by their kingmakers, stand solidly behind their Onojie and are committed to preserving the integrity of their heritage irrespective of technicalities some are orchestrating using the courtrooms.
