The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Edo state has called for the withdrawal of arms and ammunitions, which were imported into Edo State from Rivers and Delta states during the recently conducted 2020 gubernatorial elections.

This was in a statement by the Edo State APC Media Campaign Council which called on the international community to prevail on the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, to retrieve all the illegal arms imported into the state and deposited in the hands of hooligans.

APC said, “For the purpose of electoral violence, Obaseki and his deputy, Phillip Shaibu imported arms into the state. They armed several thugs and engaged in many abductions during the period. Now the election is over, what has happened to these arms. We are worried in Edo state that these arms may have got into the wrong hands and there may be an increase in crime waves across the state. Already there was poor security in the state.

“Now we fear that kidnapping, robbery among others will increase. Meanwhile, we ask the governor and his deputy to release the APC members he kidnapped during the elections. There is no gain in keeping them any longer, is there?

The APC therefore called on the police and other security agencies to begin a state-wide mop up of the arms and ammunitions if the governor fails to recall all the arms handed to thugs for the elections.
