Residents of Ogheghe and Charismatic Road, Off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City, have expressed gratitude to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his unwavering commitment to transforming infrastructure across the state.
The residents praised the ongoing construction of their road, describing the project as a much-needed intervention that has brought relief to the community after years of abandonment.
One resident, Osas Uyi noted that, “the deplorable condition of this road inflicted persistent hardship on all of us particularly during the rainy season when erosion, flooding and deep potholes rendered movement almost impossible.”
Others say commercial drivers had to consistently avoid the route due to its decrepit state, compelling residents to trek long distances to access transportation.
They further lamented that businesses within the area equally suffered significant setbacks as customers found it extremely difficult to reach shops and offices.
Some shop owners along the Charismatic Road disclosed that the ongoing construction by the Edo State Government has already restored confidence among residents and investors, expressing optimism that the completed project will enhance economic activities and improve security in the neighbourhood.
A trader, Mama Peace, who sells roasted plantain at the Charismatic Junction Off Ekenhuan Road said, “our advice is to the contractors to uphold high standards and deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe and we pledge our continued support for our Governor, Senator Monday Okpehbholo’s development agenda.”
They described the road construction as tangible evidence of the governor’s dedication to grassroots development and improved living conditions for the people of Edo State.
