It was sorrow, weeping and gnashing of teeth on the morning of Saturday, January 3, 2026, as the body of late Mrs. Lydia Ometere Akerele, who departed the world a few days to Christmas on Sunday, December 21, 2025, was laid to rest in her husband, Mr. Kehinde Akerele’s residence in Benin City.
Her burial rites was witnessed by a multitude of guests, family members, associates and the likes from across the country and even the diaspora.
The officiating minister at the funeral service, Pastor Emmanuel Obadare, of the Edo Province 9, Green Pasture Area Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), while eulogizing the deceased and praying for the repose of her soul recalled that she lived a decent lifestyle whereby she was known to offer a helping hand whenever there are humanitarian activities.
Mrs. Akerele, who hailed from Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, died at age 46 years leaving behind her husband and three children.
