As a calculated way of stimulating the growth of the Nigerian content in the value chain of the oil and gas industry, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has entered into an enduring partnership with Bunoor Integrated Energy Limited (BIEL).

Situated at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, BIEL specializes in the recycling of used engine oil into a well refined base oil for use by the public.

While speaking during a facility tour embarked upon by NCDMB to the company, the Managing Director of Bunoor Integrated Energy Limited, Okeke Modestus Ikechukwu said the visit of NCDMB to the company is of great significance not only because NCDMB is a critical stakeholder in the company but also upholds confidence in it’s journey, technology and vision, stressing that BIEL is an indegenous company which focuses on the recycling of used engine oil to produce base oil and other products which directly supports Nigerian commitment to energy circulation, environmental sustainability, local content development and import substitution.

Ikechukwu further disclosed that despite the challenges the company has encountered that led to it’s shutting down for over two years, it has again commenced commercial operations in earnest, adding that it has successfully completed technical commissioning and test running of the plant with stable and increased production, particularly from October to November, 2025.

He also emphasized that the company’s progress in the last six months is attributed to the “support, oversight and the strategic partnership with NCDMB”, reteirating that “this gave Bunoor Integrated Energy Limited credibility before vendors, financial institutions and key stakeholders which made it easier to attract local partners’ supports.

“One of the most tangible effects of NCDMB’s involvement is the growth of local Nigerian manpower within our operations. Today Bunoor Integrated Energy Limited proudly employs 37 Nigerians.”

According to him, NCDMB’S periodic engagement has also helped the company to improve its operational standards, enhance safety culture and the adoption of best practices in recycling and lubrication.

He equally opined that it has fostered Nigeria’s sustainability goals by converting waste to wealth, reduction in the importation of base oil and the contribution to local supply in the oil and gas value chain.

The BIEL boss highlighted the road map of the company in 2026, including, moving from partial to full production, expansion of raw material aggegation network across Nigeria, improvement in base oil grade and quality and the expansion of plant capacity in phases.

In his remarks, the General Manager of Coporate Services of NCDMB, Dr. Obina Ezeobi represented by the Director of Government Relations, Teddy Bai noted that the visit to the company is to showcase the success stories of indigenous companies in the value chain of the oil and gas industry in line with the act establishing NCDMB, stressing that this will certainly go a long way in promoting and stimulating their growth for the overall development of the industry in particular and the society as a whole.

In the same vein, NCDMB also extended the tour to Marconi Nigeria EPC Limited, an oil an gas company based in Port Harcout, Rivers State.

Marconi Nigeria EPC Company Content Manager, David Editang said the company started operations in May 2025 and has just begun full scale operations with the support of NCDMB, despite the fact that the board does not have equity share in the company.

He aslo noted that the company has a large expanse of land with all the basic equipments used in modern oil and gas servicing industry, adding that this will enhance it’s capacity to compete favourably with it’s counterparts elsewhere.
