I am seeking to represent my people to make the difference, says Paul Okojie, Edo Central Senate hopeful

Comrade Paul Omo Okojie, the frontrunner for the Labour Party (LP) ticket for the Edo Central Senatorial election, which is slated for Saturday, August 16th, has assured that his energence will portend good tidings to his constituents and indeed generality of Nigerians. 

The new kid on the block stated that his coming into politics is not defined by what he will amass in terms of wealth and properties but providing the basic needs of the people without recourse to grandstanding or self adulation. 

“Over the years I have come to the realisation that most politicians are much interested in using their office to acquire wealth illegally, turn their family members to be lords over the common people. 

“Not only that, go round the major cities/towns in Nigeria and take note that most of the beautiful edifies you see doting the places are owned by politicians who get the funds to build those houses through corrupt means like diverting funds meant for development of their localities to personal use. 

“I am going to make the difference. It’s not about making sweet talks meant to confuse the people so as to continually lord it over them. 

“The major that I have observed is that that supposed easy going and accessible individual when he gets elevated politically brings out his fangs, surround himself with terrorist like sophisticated gun wielding security operatives whose task is to scare away the people from him thus making him become inaccessible. 

“This I will never encourage as I will make my doors open to all and sundry and also have quarterly meetings with my constituents where they would be told about the amount of money available for constituency projects and what specific projects the funds are tied to. I would ensure that some aspects of the contracts issued out for the projects are handled by my constituents. 

“My constituency office will be allocated within the vicinity of my residence thus making it easy for my constituents to get access to me at very short notice whereby we can rub minds on issues of good governance.”
