It is football extravaganza in Benin City on today as Okuta FC and Samco City FC battle for glory in the final match of the 2nd edition of Bright Osayi Samuel Under 13 Football Tournament.
The final match is scheduled to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium at 3.00 pm with the chief sponsor and vision bearer, Bright Osayi Samuel, being on ground to watch the match and present the gold cup to the victorious side.
Preceding the final match is the third place match between NAMO FA vs Delight FA scheduled to kickoff at 2:00 pm at the same venue.
A statement released by the Organizing Committee of the Bright Osayi-Samuel U-13 Football Tournament Edo Football Association said a grand reception awaits the cup donor, Super Eagles Star, Bright Osayi Samuel, who arrived in Benin this morning.
The statement added that the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele and the Commission have already thrown their weight behind the Edo FA in the homecoming and red carpet reception of the son of the soil who is giving back to his father land through grassroots football development.
According to Fred Newton Erhunmwunsee led Edo FA, the event is not only the final of a football tournament but it will also mark the homecoming of Super Eagles and Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Erhunmwunsee in a chat described Samuel Osayi as ‘our very own football icon’, who is returning to celebrate with the people of Benin City and to inspire the next generation of stars.
He said that his association has invited all football stakeholders in the state including clubs, coaches, players, fans and supporters of the game to the grand finale of the tournament.
