Osigwe Goodness, of Edo Queens FC produced a sensational penalty strike that gave the Benin City based ladies a 1-0 win over the highly physical and athletic Unification FC girls from Lagos in a well contested quarter final game of the President Federation Cup quarterfinal match played in the early hours of today at the Dipo Dino Stadium in Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State.

From the opening whistle, the Ancient City ladies signaled their intent with relentless attacking play, pinning the youthful Unification side deep in their own half and dominating in all departments of the game.

Despite continuous resistance from the Lagos-based club, the Moses Aduku tutored girls kept mounting pressure on them. But the persistent pressure yielded no goal for Edo Queens as both teams retired into the dressing room for  first half break.

The Lagos girls were only five minutes away to holding the Benin Queens to a draw before the mathematical dribbler Osigwe Goodness, broke the jinx in the 85th minute of the all-time classic game of the President Federation Cup quarter final game when a square – played ball hit the hand of a Unification FC defender right inside the penalty area.

The centre referee wasted no time in pointing straight to the penalty box. Osigwe Goodness, quickly ran to the area, picked up the ball and placed it in the penalty circle, positioned herself ready for the kick. The goal triggered up massive jubilation from the fans who were getting tired of waiting for a goal from the Edo Queens.

Barely two minutes later, Emem Essien almost doubled the lead for her side but the wood saved the day for the Unification FC defence which was in disarray as the pressure continued to mount. The victory sees Edo Queens march into the semifinal of the competition.

With their attacking prowess and defensive solidity Edo Queens have sent a strong message to other  contenders as they continue their hunt for Federation Cup glory.

The four teams that qualified for the last four are, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Ibom Angels and Nasarawa Amazons.
