Director General(DG) of the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy(JOOPSA), Gina Otamere, has reiterated that the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, is very much interested in seeing that the workers in the state are well grounded in their utilisation of modern systems of governance.

She averred that Governor Okpebholo wants the civil servants to handle digital records and not consultants as it was obtainable in the past.

Otamere was talking at a two day training programme on records management in the public service held at the JOOPSA Centre starting from Wednesday morning.

According to her the registry is the knowledge repository of the civil and public service assuring the participants that their role is vital in the scheme of things.

She charged the participants to take cognisance of the fact that this is the first time in ten years that such a training will be held in the state which lay credence to the fact that the state government is desirous of ensuring that its workforce is operating in accordance with modern trend in governance.

Otamere meticulously took the enthusiastic participants through the types of records, types of documentation, documentation lifecycle, the lifecycle of a record, types of record management and benefits of records management and documentation among several other key areas.
