Information reaching our newsdesk is that the people of Idumoza, a community in Uwessan, Edo Central District, are mourning on account of losing some of their sons last weekend.
We gathered that on that fateful Saturday suspected fulani herders in their numbers attacked a team of vigilante operatives from Idumoza Community who were on security duty between Afuda and Idumoza Road.
Some persons lost their lives instantly in the ugly incident while other’s were rushed to the hospital with high degree of injuries. They have been in intensive care at Irrua Specialist Hospital with one of them passing on early Monday morning.
Reacting to the condemnable act, N’Edo Gheria, a socio-political cum cultural group in a statement signed by its National Convener, Patrick Ebojele, frowned at “this unprovoked incessant attack on the people while calling on all relevant government security agencies to bring this evil perpetrators to book before the community resort to self help.”
Going further, the group submitted, “we cannot see our people being killed, maimed and harassed in their ancestral homes for no justifiable reason.”
