Apostle Kassy Chukwu, Senior Pastor Peniel Miracle and Prophetic Arena, Benin, who is also Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has stated that in less than four months, the incumbent governor has done more than what his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki, did in his eight years in office.

“For instance, the issue of cultism which has been bothering the people of the state was well resolved by Governor Monday Okpebholo. He signed into law a bill that tackle cultism. Since December Edo people have been sleeping with their two eyes closed, walk freely on the streets without intimidation or harassment from any quarter.

“He has commissioned the first flyover bridge in the state at Ramat Park in Benin. He has also commissioned lots of roads; built lots of schools; employed about 400 teachers; employed cleaners in Government House etc. He has done so much in less than four months in office.”

Reflecting on his seemingly irreconcilable difference with Albert Obaze, his co influencer in the Godwin Obaseki race to the state government house in 2020, he disclosed: “He wanted me to support, Barrister Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2024 governorship election but I felt otherwise.

“Four years ago(2020), we projected then Governor Godwin Obaseki’s campaign for a second tenure in office. I was in the frontline in that campaign. When he got into office and we discovered that he was not keeping his campaign promises we decided to withdraw from him.

“When Obaze asked me why I drew back I made him know my stand on the series of campaign promises that Obaseki refused to keep. One of the promises was the issue of steady electricity power supply which was made to be out of the reach of poor people. He made it a pure business concern.

“There was also insecurity. I was always condemning Obaseki’s government and this did not go down well with Albert Obaze as he is on Obaseki’s pay roll. He is always going after those who criticize Obaseki’s regime.

“I promised Obaze that I will ensure that his choice candidate, Asue Ighodalo, loses the election and also ensure that he(Obaze) loses all the pecks of political office that he’s benefitting from. All these have come to pass thus his vexation.”
