The Benin monarch, HRM Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, has given the Edo State Governor Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, a blank cheque to always feel free to come and visit him in the Palace whenever he desires doing so.
Oba Ewuare 11 gave the governor elect the open order when he, accompanied by some leaders and stakeholders of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), presented his certificate of returns from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the monarch in the Benin Palace.
While welcoming the visitors, the monarch stated: “Congratulations for this wonderful event, the Certificate of Return you presented to us today. Most of all glory be to God almighty for a peaceful election. We had to pray very hard. Thank God he heard our prayer. Even now, we pray that the peaceful election continue to be peaceful.”
Going further, the royal father stressed that he prays for more peace and tranquility in the state. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a peaceful election in the state, adding that “God works in mysterious ways.
“I know this has been vigorous to all of us. This palace is open to you at any time, whether it is 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. you can come, and I will see you. Do your best to carry out promises you made during your campaign.”
In a rare show of support the monarch had group photographs with the governor elect, his deputy and the entire entourage that accompanied them to the palace.
