Kelvin Uwaibi, the Managing Director(MD) of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office(ESIPO), have revealed that the state government is making available N300 million for over 3,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the state.

Uwaibi, accompanied by top officials of his agency, made the disclosure while addressing a Press Briefing at the Secretariat of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) in Benin City.

He disclosed that the deal, which is meant to promote a conducive business environment in the state, originated from a collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and the Bank Of Industry (BOI). According to him the deal is meant to mitigate the impact of economic hardship.

Going further, he averred that the Edo State Government, the Bank of Industry(BOI) and LAPO Micro Finance Bank, have initiated a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) which resulted in the emergence of N2 billion earmarked to support ease of doing business by 50,000 MSMEs.

Uwaibi, while listing the achievements of his agency, talked about the creation of a one stop shop, a centralized platform meant for businesses to access different services.

He also allayed fears of multiple taxation disclosing that ESIPO is committed to tax unification which will put a check on multiple and illegal tax regime, advising business concerns that are facing the challenge of multiple taxation to reach out to the agency whose line of communication is open all day.
