Barrister Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) flagbearer in the Saturday, September 21, governorship poll in Edo State, has promised to add value to the lives of the people of the state if he emerges the governor.
He was speaking at a Town Hall meeting he held on Tuesday morning with his party faithfuls inside the Multipurpose Urhokpota Hall in Benin City, the state capital.
He affirmed that the home is the foundation for shaping values and as such parents should endeavour to give their children good upbringing so that they wont constitute a nuisance to the society as they grow in age.
On security, he asserted that he would focus much attention on the hydra headed issue of insecurity so as to make the state safe and conducive for tourists who would be interested in paying visits to the numerous tourists sites that dot the state’s landscape.
The gubernatorial hopeful stated that tourism is a money spinner and is capable of generating enough funds to cater for chains of projects that can place the state in pole position in the commity of states. He added that his blueprint is to take the state to the level where it would become the envy of the other states in Nigeria.
Ighodalo gave kudos to Governor Godwin Obaseki for initiating the process of e-governance which has cut off wastages via the use of papers and has thus saved the government from incurring huge expenses against what was obtainable in the past.
On the global issue of flooding and erosion, which some part of the state are suffering from he promised to bring in the needed expertise to address the issue and make living comfortable for the people of the disaster prone areas. He also gave hint of exploring the potentials of turning waste to wealth for the benefit of the people.
Talking about the N70,000 minimum wage which the state government is executing, he averred that it is a policy which has come to stay and will even be increased in years to come.
Barrister Ighodalo said that there are hordes of Edolites in the diaspora who are well placed and who could be called upon when the occasion warant to add their input to governance in the state. He also promised that his government will initiate regular town hall meetings where the citizens will be free to contribute ideas on how governance can be made to add value to the living standard of the people.
