In continuation of his consultation with his party, All Progressives Congress(APC), leaders and members in Etsako East, Etsako Central and Etsako West Local Government Areas of Edo State, Lucky Imasuen, a leading contender for the Edo State governorship election coming up in September, has promised to take governance back to the people.
With a promise that he will encourage a policy of getting inputs of the people of a locality to appoint from their midst credible men and women to fill political appointments.
His first port of call was the APC Secretatiat in Agenebode, the administrative headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Area. Imasuen gave kudos to his audience for their steadfastness and commitment to play a major role in enthronement of a APC led administration in the state Government House.
He averred that he stands out as the best choice for the governorship position in November considering his past deeds when he was the Chief of Staff and later Deputy Governor of the state whereby he initiated projects that impacted on lives.
Imasuen told the party faithfuls that he will initiate skill acquisition programmes which will be of benefit and will produce entrepreneurs in large numbers across the state. Also, he stressed that some contracts would be awarded to capable members of a community.
Responding, the party stakeholders poured encomium on Imasuen for his maturity and tenacity. They prayed for his success at the polls.
At Fugar, the headquarters of Etsako Central, Imasuen expressed shock that some of the roads in the locality remain deplorable over the years. He assured his audience that on assumption of office he will set up a local committee made up of the people to come up with a list of roads that require government attention in the area which will be given prompt attention.
According to him, the area which is well known for rice production will be well supported by his government to leverage on its area of strength and up the scale of its volume of rice production so that it can commence export of the commodity to foreign countries.
A youth leader of the party while assessing the personality of Imasuen, said that he conducted a check on the chances of the different aspirants on the APC platform to know who will emerge as its flagbearer. He disclosed that the result showed that Imasuen is above the others.
He asserted that to cap his findings the party lost two active members in a ghastly autocrash on a trip from Abuja to Auchi and as they were being mourned it was only Imasuen that showed empathy, paid a visit to the bereaved families to condole with and support them under a short notice.
Imasuen’s last stop was Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Council. He showered encomium on the people for their continous support for the APC and assured them that if he becomes the governor of Edo State he will not disappoint them by living up to their expectations.
“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, an illustrious son of this local government, when he governed this state achieved a lot such that his achievements became one of the focal points of assessing governance. Till date, eight years after he left office, people still talk about him.
“I admire his leadership qualities and I look forward to having my name written in gold to either surpass him or equal his achievements,” Imasuen submitted.
