The Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) suffered a reality check on Monday, October 23rd, when its 3rd edition kicked off.
The reality check that the tournament, the brainchild of the Edo State Governor’s wife, Betsy Obaseki, is enjoying much hype in contrast to what actually is obtainable hit the organisers like a sledge hammer in the forehead.
The organisers had a shock await them as zero hour to the kickoff the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, the venue, was empty as fans stayed off.
Seeing the situation, and avoiding the unexpected embarrassment to come, the organisers found their way to the office of some motor park touts whom they packed into vehicles and brought to the stadium to fill the empty spectators spaces.
The BOWFT which has 13 teams from across the country competing will end by the 1st November.
