Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, the former Chairman of Igueben Local Government Council of Edo State, has reemphasised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s boast that he will ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets over 2.5million votes from Edo State in the 2027 presidential election.
“Yes, 2.5 million votes from Edo State for President Bola Tinubu in the Presidential election of 2027, is achievable. We’re going to work on our voters registration. There will be a fresh voters registration at that time and so we will use the opportunity to sensitise eligible voters by moving from door to door and making them exercise their civic responsibility.
“We have enough population in Edo State to meet the target. It’s something that we’re working seriously towards achieving. At the end of the day the APC will get the needed votes and emerge victorious. We know that there are other political parties in contention but the APC is stronger than all of them.
“We’re not just talking about winning the 2027 Presidential election but we’re winning with a landslide. The dream of Governor Okpebholo is going to be actualized. We’re going to get it right. Trust me,” the APC chieftain stated.
On insecurity, Hon. Igbogbo said: “It has been occurring before the assumption of office of Governor Okpebholo with herdsmen occupying people’s farmland to cause havoc. I think the governor is going to collaborate with the local people in different towns and villages.
“These local people will move into the farmlands to fish out unwanted occupants. Nothing untoward can happen in the localities without the participation of the people of the communities. Kidnappers, bandits cannot operate freely in a village without the imputs of the villagers. If villagers insist that unknown elements should vacate their communities the instruction will be adhered to within a week.”
On the perceived gang up against President Tinubu’s desire to stay in office beyond 2027, Hon. Igbogbo ascertained that the elites that are been associated with the coalition against the President are paper weight politicians with no electoral value, adding “this is politics. I tell you most times those that are not favoured by a political arrangement end up revolting against the system.”
Speaking on the bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16th to fill the vacant Edo Central Senatorial District seat, Igbogbo said that the APC is fielding a sellable candidate(Joseph Ikpea) who with the full support of his foot soldiers (party faithfuls) will emerge victorious.
