A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Barrister Mathew Edaghese, has said that Obi and Kwankwaso Movement popularly called OK is very determined to chase out the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government from Aso Rock come 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
The human rights activist who is also an aspirant for Esan South-East and Esan North- East Federal Constituency in the forthcoming National Assembly elections stated this while addressing a cross section of NDC supporters in Ubiaja in Edo Central. He however highlighted his mission and vision for Esan South East and Esan North East Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives if given the mandate to serve them.
On what informed his decision to contest for the Federal House of Representatives under the NDC in Esan South East and Esan North East respectively, he said: “What informed my decision is self conviction and popular demand by majority of the people who are clamouring for a different direction in terms of leadership. Representation has become a stigma over time, and their desire is to have effective representation in Abuja.
“This can only be achieved when they deal with somebody with reputable character, somebody who have the pedigree, competent and capacity. Without sounding modest I possess those qualities. The records are there. I’m not a sycophant. I have never indulged in sycophancy in my life.”
On his reason for vying under the platform of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), he said: “NDC has been existing, the newness in NDC is the coming of Obedient Movement and Obi Kwankwaso ticket is already assured.
“The OK Movement is a group to belong. NDC will shock Nigerians. It is a moving train that nobody can stop. I want to use this veritable platform to represent the good people of Esan South East and Esan North East Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives in Abuja.
“I didn’t just wake up one morning and say I want to contest for Federal House of Representatives. It is the pressure from people. They need quality representatives. The people there have failed us. They need a voice. They need good leadership. They need the dividend of democracy and security and good life. Esan South East and Esan North East Federal Constituency must take their destinies in their hands. This is not the time to trade with their future and that of their children. As it stands now, NDC is the party to beat. By the grace of God we would get there.”
