Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, as well as leaders and members of the Edo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, took the party’s campaign to Esan Central Senatorial District, where they were received by an unprecedented jubilant crowd.
Obaseki, at the Esan Central PDP Senatorial District Campaign Rally held at Okpoji Primary School Field in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, expressed confidence that the party and its candidates will emerge victorious in the forthcoming general elections.
He said, “I appeal to you people to be united and never allow any divisibility in your midst as those causing problems in Esanland are not from Esan neither are they Esan people.
“We have brought electricity to Benin City through the Ossiomo Power Plant. That electricity will be extended to Esanland soon. Esanland is known for education and we must ensure that good education continues in Esanland.”
The governor added, “I am not here to campaign because we have won the election already as we have never lost any election that we are involved in, but am here today to ask you with how many votes shall we defeat our opponents? PDP is the only party in Esanland. Esan people are lucky because you have better representation in government.”
Obaseki while introducing all PDP candidates for various elective positions in the general election, urged Esan people to come out en-masse on February 25 to vote for the PDP and its candidates.
On his part, Shaibu said, “Scarcity of fuel, hunger and suffering in the land were all brought by the APC government and voting for the same party will mean a disaster for Nigeria as the suffering and challenges will continue.
“Edo State is the heartbeat of Nigeria. Edo must get it right for Nigeria to survive. Let’s all vote for PDP in the State and Nigeria to rescue, save and rebuild Nigeria.”
Also, the wife of the National Chairman of the PDP, Mrs. Albeta Ayu appealed to members and leaders of the PDP to reconcile and be united to rescue Nigeria from the suffering inflicted on the people by the APC-led government.
She said, “PDP is the answer to Nigeria’s suffering. It’s only the PDP that can save, rescue, and rebuild Nigeria and lift the people out of the present plight it’s facing.”
Earlier the governor and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Highness (HRH), Zaiki Anslem Edenojie II, the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom.
