The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have concluded plans to drop a serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Johnson Oghuma, for the 2023 general elections over alleged non performance.
A chieftain of the party in Etsako, who spoke in confidence, said aside non performance, the representative of the Etsako Federal constituency have not helped in the growth of the party.
He said that the leadership of the party have also taken into account, the feelings of the majority of the constituents about Oghuma and added the lawmaker has relegated party leaders in his constituency.
He noted that the people have categorically made their intention known to the leadership of the party that should Oghuma be fielded in the 2023 poll, the party would lose the seat to another party.
“This is the general consensus among the party faithfuls in the federal constituency; they hardly see him (Oghuma) in the constituency and his projects are not visible to them.
“They particularly noted that the Mechanic site Road in Auchi that he started was not only abandoned midway but the project has been a subject of hardship to the people, especially when it rains.
“They have simply declared that Oghuma is not a sellable candidate and have only managed to win previous elections because of the influence of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Senator Francis Alimikhina,” he stated.
The source said the plan is to replace Oghuma with a sellable candidate like the former deputy governorship candidate of the APC in the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Mallam Gani Audu.
According to him, “He is relying on Comrade and his mother to return him to the National Assembly in 2023. How can he make it when the people are not with him.”
