Addressing the inductees, Alhaji Faruk Umar Abubakar, who was represented by the Director of Nursing Education at the Council, Dr. Emmanuel Odontra, said: “You are now confirmed registered nurses, duely trained and certified in learning and character. Your actions, in and out of practice should show the quality you are made of, as products of this great University and this noble profession.

“You have been called by training and profession, to serve humanity. We at the council are sending you out now, with your induction today, to contribute your experience in the management and treatment of patients at the various levels of our healthcare strata.

“Always have at the back of your mind that your service is part of the chain within the health sector. Always contribute your best to be a good ambassador of your alma mata.”

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the event and the acting Vice Chancellor, AAU, Ekpoma, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, congratulated the inductees and their parents “for all the hard work they put in to get to this stage, which I will call the crowning glory.”

Prof Adagbonyin, who was represented by the University’s acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Theophilus Agweda, attested to the fact that “the road has been rough, the sacrifice intense, but rewarding at the end.

“I urge you to go into the world and be the best examples of the very best; go and practice the duty of care with passion, compassion, devotion and unfettered dedication.

“Be the worthy ambassador of this great University, remembering the road you went through and not forgetting how the journey through this road has prepared you for anything and everything. Be the tough cookie that never crumbles.

The 179 qualified nurses of the 2020/2021 academic session form the nucleus of the sixth set to be inducted since the establishment of the Department of Nursing Sciences of AAU in November, 2010.
